Adventure Times!

Intermingled with leading a calmer lifestyle by working for four hours during the day and going home to chill out and relax for the rest of the day, I've been having a few adventures. Keep in mind that I consider being stuck in traffic the adventure at times, and get excited when I discover something new in a place as simple as WalMart. I mean, the things I'm going to tell you about are cooler than that, but the point to that previous sentence is that I am easily amused and not hard at all to please - as long as something new is happening I'm good.

I went to my city's carnival with James and Rachel, spending ten dollars each on Rachel and I and James helping to send Rachel on a ride that flipped her upside down and all around. We had funnel cake and cotton candy, and rode this sky ride kind of like The Superman at the Six Flags in Arlington, and I screamed like a baby. We got on the Ferris Wheel for two tickets cheaper (we read it as four instead of six tickets) since it was James' first time on it. We weren't there for long since dad was cooking dinner and it would be ready soon, but we had a blast during the time we were there since we were some of the few people that showed up on day 1 since I was so excited about it.

I took Rachel and James to Scarborough Faire in Waxahachie, TX, getting confused yet excited on the way there because the directions were pretty complicated but I somehow got us there without getting lost. I was waiting in line with James and Rachel so I could buy Rachel and I's tickets and James could get his when a girl asked who's first time it was at the festival. I of course pointed to James because he hadn't yet been before that day, and she handed him a free ticket and asked Rachel if she was with him. She said yes and also got a free ticket (which left me confused as to why I didn't receive one, but the girl who gave them out said that she had only two extra and the last one was for her, so I said "ooooooh okay" and bought mine), which led me only to pay one admission fee, which was awesome. I blew $200 more there in souvenirs (two necklaces made from the same quarter with a heart key and the outline in the actual quarter for James and I, a tiny jade owl, a pewter owl, an owl necklace to support the Bird's of Prey show, a unicorn for Rachel, a penguin and a turtle for James and I, a cute Rockhopper Penguin for mom with a feather tuft coming out of his head holding a heart that a man carved out of clay, a ring for Rachel to propose to her fiancée with), had some yummy food, went through a couple of attractions (the mermaid lagoon and the mythical monster museum that I was too scared to stay in for very long, the maze that kind of disappointed me), and saw live shows in which I took pictures/video of (turtle races, cale the juggler, the father and son knife throwing show, a random show that we stumbled upon in the street that James and I ended up being equally as curious about, the birds of prey). Some people saw Rachel proposing so they gave her and her lady engagement gifts in the form of discounted/free items and a free rickshaw ride. We took pictures before leaving and James and I purchased the pictures of us taken by the jester camera on the way out. We spent seven hours there and ended up going home with pretty bad sunburns. Mine is a tan now so that's pretty awesome... I didn't realize how white I was before getting burned.

I spent an entire day with Kimmi and her bridal party (of which I am a Bridesmaid and couldn't be more excited to help her prepare for her wedding) looking for the perfect dresses. We started out in Lewisville which ended up having a dress we all liked that was severely overpriced, then at the Grapevine Mall where we got some lunch, stopped in to get more comfy shoes at a Charlotte Rousse (flip flops with black/white pattern and a bow for me), and went to two dress shops that really didn't have much. After feeling pretty defeated and overwhelmed, we went to David's Bridal in Hurst and ended up being torn by two dresses, one of which was along the lines of Kimmi's original vision. They had sizes for all of us, so she went with a short length navy blue dress with hidden pockets along the hemline, and I bought mine that day for $108, which is NOT that bad at all considering the first one she fell in love with was over $200. I still have to buy the shoes that go with the dress, which are super cute and I'm excited to go get them. What's cool about both the shoes and the dress is that I can wear them for a more dressy outfit aaaalll of the time, and perhaps even use them to cosplay as a Vaporeon (without any alterations to the dress, of course). I'm super excited for September to roll around since it promises the lingerie shower, bridal shower, and KIMMI'S WEDDING!!!

Rachel, James and I stopped by a Lone Star Comics on Free Comic Book Day to see what we could snag, and I pulled a bunch of free comics to take home and read. Rachel ended up with two .99 mangas, which I was kind of enough to get for her and would have gotten if they were $10 each. I got a couple of magnets of Batman and The Green Lanturn that at the moment I have no idea what happened to them. After that we drove out to my grandma's house to spend the night and pick my mom up. We helped out around there before leaving by rearranging some furniture, cleaning out the dog's house, planting tomato plants, and putting up a flower bed fence for them. Mom was kind enough to drive home while I snuggled with James in the backseat and eventually ended up playing the Sims 3 since I got bored just sitting there and James was on his iPhone. We have been enjoying mom's company off and on while she's home, which is nice.

Rachel and I picked up a pet rat from the neighbors across the street who has chosen the name Honey for herself (I wanted her to be named Honey Badger... oh well). She isn't very people friendly but has improved tremendously in the past couple of weeks. We got her a new cage that she loves to run around in and hide food in random spots within. She has favorite hiding places and will now take food that we hold out to her. She wants to explore my bedroom but we haven't let her since it's too big of a space that we could lose her in since she hasn't gotten used to human touch yet. We bought a rat ball that we're slowly introducing Honey to, which she investigates but has no interest in getting into yet. Kitty Kitty wanted to hunt Honey the first week we brought her home, and was met with being sprayed with a spray bottle full of water; she has since started observing her from the bed and become more curious instead of killer. Yesterday I accidentally left the cat locked in there with her while we went to the movies and came back to a live rat and unhurt Kitty Kitty, so we got lucky on that one.

Rachel, dad, mom and I saw "The Host" in theaters, and it ended up being pretty good in my opinion. It had the right level of romance, suspense, and intrigue.

I went to a new therapist which wasn't very pleasant due to the nature of the visit, but I like her and her office is close to my house and she has a very laid back personality that I like. She is going to use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help me get over a lot of things and is teaching me techniques to use in order to bring myself to the present when the past/future sneaks up and scares the Hell out of me. The first visit went well, and I have a little bit of homework to do before I go back on Wednesday.

I work for an Optometrist right now but am currently seeking employment with Steak and Shake; I have a second interview on Wednesday that I'm excitedly nervous about.

I guess that's all (which is actually a lot and I'm sick of typing). Have a fantastic however-long-it-takes-me-to-write, and I'll see y'all next time if you're still here.

50 Things About Me: 2013 Edition

1) My name never changes - I'm Kimbra

2) I'm 24, though my boyfriend says that I sometimes act like I'm 7.

3) I have an amazing boyfriend named James who means the world to me; I see a future with him.

4) My baby sister (who is now 22... yikes!) is one of the most important people in my life; without her I would be super lost.

5) I collect Pokemon cards, and am trying to get at least one of every single Pokemon/form of certain Pokemon.

6) I love Harry Potter - which has taught me much of what I need to know about life - and try to visit Hogwarts as much as I can in any way possible.

7) I see the beauty in broken things; a cracked jewlery box, a ceramic owl with one wing missing, a wilted flower, people who have suffered too much.

8) I work as a receptionist for an Optometrist's office.

9) I have a hard time viewing humans as "people;" I only view certain humans as people, the rest viewed as beings who are just passing through my life.

10) I get too emotionally invested in books and television shows. I feel what the characters feel, which leads to a hard reading/viewing experience at times.

11) I am trying to make the house in which I live a home, slowly but surely, but cleaning it up and adding some decor here and there.

12) I collect: stuffed animals, owls, post cards, magnets, knick-knacks, books, posters, pictures of family and friends.

13) I have become super crafty within the past year, and have tried my hand and painting and drawing simple things. I rarely like the outcome, but others find them interesting.

14) I make it a daily effort to live a life that will hold no regrets.

15) I fight to be happy, despite hitting a brick wall sometimes.

16) I am a people pleaser, which means I get manipulated into doing things that don't necessarily mean anything in the long run, but will help another person. I am working to change this.

17) I try to unclutter my life and only hold onto things that I know I want to let my future children use eventually. So far, I'm doing alright, but could be doing better.

18) I try to be as honest as I can, so much so that if I accidentally lie, I go back and let the person know and tell them the more accurate statement.

19) I play video games (The Sims 3, Ni No Kuni, Black Ops, Lego Batman II, Harry Potter Lego, Star Wars Lego, Kingdom Hearts II, etc) that are easier, and make it a point to voice that I am deeply unhappy when I end up dying.

20) I was bullied growing up by people in school who felt that I was fat and ugly, and have had quite the hard time working past that to have a good self-image.

21) I believe that homosexuals should have the right to marry within all states in the United States.

22) I have been known to listen to The Spice Girls and watching Disney Movies while performing tasks that I would just rather not do (homework, cleaning, etc).

23) I am an agnostic who believes something has to be out there (how else did we get here?) but does not believe that there is one specific supreme god.

24) I actually believe in many different gods, none of whom hold a special place within my heart.

25) I have actually given up completely when it comes to religion and what they have to offer.

26) I am not above kicking people out of my life when they make it miserable or when they only focus on negative things.

27) I always feel the need to make ammends when I am well aware that I have wronged someone in a terrible way; I wish that more people felt the same way.

28) I have triggers and pet peeves that make me upset/angry; it is for this reason that I think I am rough around the edges.

29) I am above taking people's bullshit; it is for this reason that James calls me his "big ball of anger."

30) I have five tattoos, and plan on adding on to my fifth one and getting two more.

31) I am severely overweight, and need to exercise, but I lack the drive to do so.

32) I am getting better at managing a relationship, family, friends and work, but could still use some work on the friends aspect.

33) I have a lot of flaws that I am not proud of.

34) Rock and classical music speak to my soul. Rap rips it apart.

35) Bad grammar and mispelled words make me cringe and almost causes me physical pain.

36) I do not fear death, but am certainly not ready to die anywhere near my 20's. Maybe when I reach 100 I'll be ready. Maybe.

37) I do, however, fear losing my loved ones, clowns, that scientists will bring dinosaurs back to life, and being outside at night.

38) I have four cats (Tigger, Sandy, Kitty Kitty, and Fang), and only one sleeps with me and allows me to snuggle her.

39) I'm one of those people who don't realize how much they miss someone until I am in their presence after an extended period of absence.

40) I'm pretty awesome, and have no problem flaunting that fact.

41) I avoid going to the doctor unless I really, really need to; at one point this year I was so sick that I had pneumonia, and at another my eye swelled almost completely shut because of a stye. I didn't WANT to go see a doctor until I had to, and obviously I had to.

42) I'm looking for a job that will make me happy and fulfilled, and don't believe that I have found it yet.

43) Arizona Diet Green Tea is my favorite drink ever. Besides Sprite. And Water.

44) I don't have a favorite food; I just like food. Though there are more foods that I dislike than like.

45) My life thus far has been anything but easy, and I have come to expect it to be as hard as it can get. I have found coping skills to deal with the hard times, and have come to appreciate the happier times.

46) I love poetry, and have made a few attempts at writing my own.

47) I am a writer of a wide variety of random things. I have yet to edit any of the novels that I plan to, but one day I'm sure I'll get around to it.

48) I have gotten fairly selfish with my time, money, and emotional attachments as of late. By doing so I have been allowing myself to recover from the recent past and feel like an actual human being again.

49) I have been in one fist fight, and I'd like to say that it was pretty even as far as damage to each other was concerned.

50) I believe myself to be a good person filled with good intentions. The people in my life would happily agree with this statement.

Here is a list of the cards I need and what generations they are apart of (note: I know that some of the cards are in the wrong generation, but that's how the book I have has them set up so that's what I'm going off of).
